About

Frontend engineer, working remotely out of Nigeria. Intern to CTO in six months.

I am Saviour Ise Okhuoya, a frontend engineer working remotely out of Nigeria. I use code to solve problems and build business solutions, which in practice has meant eight products across fintech, energy, education, food delivery and sales, and being handed the technical direction on four of them.

The pattern in my history is that I get in the door and then outgrow the role. I joined TYNCAD as an intern in July 2022, was full-time by October and CTO by January, six months in, where I set the architecture and led the team. The same thing happened at Encentrals, intern to full-time in seven months, and at HNG, intern to apprentice in two, out of a programme designed to lose most of the people who enter it.

The work I care most about is the work nobody asked for. Autopilot pays your bills in priority order so the important ones clear when money is tight. Tally tracks what I have earned and invoices for it. FlavorFinder answers what to eat. use-timed-flow is on npm because I needed a hook that did not exist. Each one started as something I wanted, which is the only reason any of them got finished.

Xyora

An AI sales CRM built around one idea: describe the leads you want in plain English and the system finds them. It verifies every email, then automates personalised cold outreach, with prospecting, pipeline and AI marketing living in one workspace rather than three tools. Django and PostgreSQL behind it, Redis for the queues and caching that the enrichment and sending pipelines need, React on the front.

As CTO I put Django and PostgreSQL behind it rather than a JavaScript backend, because lead enrichment and email verification are long-running jobs and I wanted them as ordinary background workers instead of something bolted onto a request cycle. Redis for the queue rather than a managed service, since the product was pre-revenue and infrastructure cost had to stay near zero. The constraint was three months to something demoable, built across the whole stack.

Dailyfood App

A food and drinks ordering platform spanning three separate products: native mobile apps for customers, an admin panel for the people running the service, and a public landing page. Flutter for the apps so one codebase serves both stores; React and Next.js for the admin panel and the marketing site.

The decision that shaped everything else was Flutter for the mobile apps: one codebase serving both stores instead of staffing two native tracks, which a team this size could not have carried. I kept the admin panel and landing page on React and Next.js so the web work could ship on its own schedule rather than waiting on app releases. The constraint was three separate products with one team.

Prodily

An AI productivity platform that bills itself as an operating system for human potential: intelligent agents that amplify a team's output, surface burnout early, and give leaders a read on culture before it becomes a problem. React across the platform.

The call I made as CTO was about scope, not stack. An AI productivity platform can expand forever, so I cut the first release down to the agent surface that could actually be demonstrated and deferred the deeper analytics until there was usage to analyse. The constraint was three months to a platform people could be shown rather than told about.

Autopilot

Ends missed bills, service disconnections and late fees by letting you rank your bills by importance, then automatically paying them from one Monnify-powered wallet in that priority order, so when funds are tight the bills that matter most always get paid first.

  • React
  • Netlify

Tally

A time and earnings tracker for anyone paid by the hour or the day. Log a day in one tap, or run a live timer while you actually work, and it keeps a running total for the month: hours, full days, partial days, and what you have earned. It also projects forward, so mid-month you can see what the month is on pace to pay against the weekdays left in it. Extras like one-off fees or bonuses go in alongside, and the whole month exports as an invoice when it is time to get paid.

  • Flutter

FlavorFinder

Answers the question you ask three times a day and never enjoy answering: what am I eating. It holds a library of your own meals with calories and macros, learns which you favour and which you would rather never see again, then builds a weekly timetable across breakfast, lunch and dinner so the decision is already made. When you open it, it tells you what is next, and if you do not fancy it, one tap swaps the meal for something else that fits. Recipes are attached, so the answer comes with instructions rather than another decision.
